4to2 Hair conversion tutorial: Part 5 Creating the changelings!

5:21 AM

I
n this part we will create 3 files that will be used to change the mesh of the three meshes we keep in "Downloads" folder. Open the Milkshape again, and again hit file>new

-Then File>import>Sims2 Unimesh import v4.09 (scroll down to find it, and don't mistake it with Sims2 Unimesh objx data split import) and find Sims2bodybases folder in your workshop. Choose the "afBodyNaked_gmdc" file to be imported.
-Hit NO to "create blend groups" and YES to "Correct some skin weights"

-Again hit File>import>sims2 Unimesh import v4.09. It tells you that you will import another model and will ask if you want to continue. The hell we want to continue, Milkshape! Hit ok and NO to the next question, on whether you want to include additional bones.
-Go to Sims2bodybases again and choose "afFace_gmdc"  click NO to "create blend groups" and YES to "Correct some skin weights"

-And again 😬 hit File>import>sims2 Unimesh import v4.09. It tells you that you will import another model and will ask if you want to continue. Click YES there and NO to the next question about the additional bones.
-Go to Sims2bodybases again and choose "afHairBald_gmdc"

-One last time hit File>import>wavefront obj and choose the wavefront.obj from the "current project" folder.

It's time for adjustments now!

Time for the comments! This is an important part. If the comments aren't right or aren't there at all, the hair won't show up.
Go to groups tab, and click on the GEOM-00

then click on comments and copy-paste  the 4 lines bellow in the box that will open.

Modelname: hair_alpha5
Opacity: 5
HasTangentArray:
NumSkinWgts: 3

Hit ok to close the box, and then go to the box that has GEOM-00 written in it, delete it and write hair_alpha5  , and then hit "rename"

The comments are ok, now lets move on and adjust joints! In this way we will "tell" the mesh, how it will move. The easiest hair are the short hair, like the one I chose to convert here. That's because for all short hairs, the procedure is really easy.

Double click "hair_alpha5 "so  that it's selected and then go to 'joints' tab. Follow the pictures' instructions.

That's it for short hair. It will move as the head moves. I STRONGLY advise you to practice on some short hair, before moving to longer and more difficult hair. When you move to long hair, follow this amazing tutorial of  Serenity_fall about bone assignment. It's so well written, that there was no need to write the same things again.

When you are done, with that step, we will export the whole thing.
Go to groups and delete Body and face.

Then go to File>export>Sims2 Unimesh exporter v4.09.

The file we will use for the adult/elder part of our mesh, is ready. You will do the exact same thing two more times, for the teen part, and then for the child part.

REMEMBER, I will tell the procedure with no pics though.
